Oxivius
Baku-verse Protagonist
Long before he was Oxivius Soulforge, he was a King of Ghuls and a Knight Templar — titles that outlived the years, and outlived most of the people who gave them to him. His story properly begins in Plymouth in the 1620s: a marriage to Valeria, forged through a storm-wracked Atlantic crossing and a battle against a ghost ship carrying a cult bent on recapturing a stolen grimoire.
The marriage did not last the way marriages are supposed to. Hunted by the Heavenly Host’s assassins, Oxivius was captured and crucified in the town square; Valeria saved him with power bought from the demon Malek, and the Council that failed to protect him banished him to the Mist instead. He wandered it in grief for years, until the first necromancer — the Witch of Endor — taught him to become a Soulforge, one who bends souls to his will.
He found the Necropolis, dethroned its Lich King, and made the realm of the dead his home. He still lives there, in a converted mausoleum, still searching for a way to bring Valeria back. Centuries later, in a rebuilt world, he found a woman wearing her face — a demon now, serving the very patron who once bought her power. The Baku-verse calls him the Horseman of Death. Eevee, the child prophesied to be its next Messiah, just calls him Uncle Ox.
